Ruthie Smithens, a girl who believes in fairy tales and happy endings, would do almost anything to help her best friend, Kit Kittredge, whose family has been hard hit by the Depression. But Ruthie has learned the hard way that offers of help, even between friends, are tricky. When Ruthie finds out some bad news about the Kittredges' house while at her father's bank, she has to find a way to help the Kittredges reach Kit's Aunt Millie, so that there can be at least the chance of a happy ending!

New Historical Mysteries Coming

American Girl is coming out with three new historical character mysteries next year! The publication date given for each is March 2008. Here are their titles and a short synopsis for each:

Traitor in Williamsburg: A Felicity Mystery
Felicity Merriman is alarmed when mysterious notices appear in Williamsburg, falsely accusing her friend Fiona's father of helping the British. With the Revolution heating up, Felicity knows the accusations will bring danger to Fiona's family. Then Felicity's own father is accused of being a traitor, too, and she decides she has to find out who's making the terrible accusations!

The Runaway Friend: A Kirsten Mystery
Kirsten Larson has been living on the Minnesota frontier for only a few weeks when her neighbor and friend, Erik Sandahl, disappears. Erik had promised to help the Larsons at harvest time--and he owes Uncle Olav money. Has Erik run out on his promises? Everyone seems to think so--except Kirsten. Can she figure out what's happened to her friend?

A Thief in the Theater: A Kit Mystery
Kit Kittredge spends a week of her summer vacation volunteering at the local theater--she wants to write a newspaper article about a play that's opening soon. It even stars famous actors from New York City! But behind the scenes, Kit and her friend Stirling discover more drama than they bargained for.

American Girl Place Chicago is Moving

American Girl Place Chicago is in need of more space, so they will be moving to the Water Tower Place, probably in fall of 2008. This location, a large mall, is very close to their old location and will give them more room to grow.
