Tidbits of News

Unfortunately there has not been a lot of news this winter and spring, but here are some tidbits that I've managed to collect, with help from posters at the American Girl Fans Message Board:

Julie movie: The Julie movie is apparently still planned and still going to be a musical, since there is a listing for Julie: An American Girl Musical on the New York Times Movies website. There is little information available at this time, however. The release date is currently rumored to be 2012, although I can find no date listed on the New York Times site.

2011 Historical? There are a couple tidbits floating around that indicate a possible 2011 historical doll. The first is from dolldiaries.com. That site reports that illustrator Christine Kornacki posted a news update on her website saying she was working on illustrating a set of books for American Girl due out in June 2011. However, that update no longer appears on Christine's site.

One poster on the AG Fans Message board said that a writer friend of her mother's has a six book contract with AG. According to the poster, all of that author's books have been based in and around New Orleans, which is intriguing because AG had trademarked the names Laurette, Emeline, and Marie-Grace, which some speculate could be French Creole names.

New item rumor: A personal shopper from AG Place Los Angeles reportedly has said that there will be a large release of items in July.

Recent Rebecca Items

The most recently released historical items were for Rebecca. Rebecca received a pretty lavendar Coney Island dress, hat, and shoes to correspond with her book Rebecca to the Rescue. To go along with the dress, AG released a souvenir accessories set consisting of: A memory book with pages to place postcards, seven postcards, a ride poster from Steeplechase Park, a wind-up carousel music box that turns and plays "Over the Waves," and a ride ticket that hangs on a string.
